Are you truly independent?

Yes! (That’s an easy one.) You should always choose an independent financial adviser (IFA), as we have to meet strict competence and qualification requirements. For more on this, please see Wikipedia. With our Investments and Pensions service we provide Independent Advice and so we will advise and make a recommendation for you after we have assessed your needs. Our recommendation will be based on a comprehensive and fair analysis of the market.

We offer a range of services to help you meet your investment and/or retirement objectives. We provide independent investment advice which we will discuss with you as described in our important information about our services document.

Are you tied to any particular provider?

No. We are independent financial advisers, which means we can access the whole of the market on your behalf.

Which companies do you deal with?

All of them. As we’re IFAs, there is no restriction on products we can recommend for you.

How does it work?

At the free initial consultation, we conduct a ‘fact-find’ to discover your current financial situation and what you want to achieve. The meeting can be at your home or our offices, daytime or evening, whichever suits you best. We’ll follow it up with another meeting to present our proposals in the form of a written report, so you can make your mind up about what to do.

What does it cost?

The initial meeting is free, even if we travel to your home. (Tea or coffee and biscuits are always appreciated though!) We’ll then give you a clear and simple quote to cover our fees, depending on what you want to do. There’s absolutely no cost until you decide to take it further.

What qualifications do you have?

We’re appropriately qualified IFAs. In line with our own interests and FCA requirements, we keep our professional development up to date annually. Please see the individual biographies of our team members for full details by checking out each advisor’s page.

What if things go wrong?

You need to be aware that there is an element of risk with all investments. Depending on market conditions, you may not always get back the whole amount you invest. However, if you buy a product on our advice that turns out to be unsuitable for your needs and risk profile, you should turn to our internal complaint handling procedures. If you are still unsatisfied, you can go to the Financial Ombudsman Service which has the power to award compensation, if warranted.
